Pinot Noir Early

This vintage was harvested from our Upton Bishop Vineyard.  Despite the late start due to a cold spring, the relatively dry summer growing conditions provided good ripeness levels with high natural sugars and good colour in the grapes.

An earlier ripening Pinot Noir enables us to get high levels of colour and flavour we need for our red wines.

Traditional red wine making techniques were employed with skin contact fermentation for 10 days with regular pump-overs and extended oak barrique ageing for over 9 months.

The wine has a aromas of cherry, oak and a hint of violet, following to the palate with plentiful soft ripe tannins from the oak and the grapes.  This wine is drinking well now, and will continue to evolve, soften and add to its own complexity for another 2-3 years.

This wine pairs well with duck, lamb or roast pork dishes; mushrooms dishes or nutty cheeses such as Manchego or Gruyere.
