Meet the Makers

In 2019 Peter Cooke, a successful Gloucestershire business owner and passionate wine lover, took ownership of the Flaxley Estate, with exciting plans to restore historic buildings, enhance natural habitats, and make world class English wine in the most sustainable environment.  

Now in our early years of wine production, we are proud to demonstrate major steps towards achieving Peter’s vision.  At our first wine competition (Wine GB West 2024), Kingsthorne’s Chardonnay was awarded the trophy for Still White Wine of 2024, amongst a host of other silver and bronze awards.

None of this would be possible without the expertise of wine maker and viticulturalist, Simon Day.  Simon is the most experienced wine maker in the UK, having made wine for over 35 years.  He has honed his art to produce wines that are putting the UK on the world wine map.  We hope you enjoy them.
